A motorcycle show at the Veterans’ Home in Barboursville Saturday raised money for the home. Allyson Salmons said the show, put on by the Bethesda United Methodist Church and the Huntington Motorcycle Club, is a way to honor those who have served.

“This is the only Veteran’s Home of its type in West Virginia and we just wanted to come out and show our support and remind the men that we remember them,” she said.
Matt Sabin, the Recreation Coordinator at the home, said the vets appreciate the support.
“Our guys, a lot of times, feel like the whole world’s gone by and they’re on this hill and it just goes past them,” he said. “Our community provides great support in bringing them out of the home and making sure they know they’re not forgotten.”
Salmons said many of the bikers themselves know the feeling.
“A lot of them are third and fourth generation veterans themselves and the word has spread each year we have had the bike show and we get incredible support from them,” she said.
Sabin said the fact that the event even gets off the ground is pretty special.
“A lot of these clubs throughout the year usually will not associate with each other and to have them all come together is an amazing event in itself,” he said. “They put all their difference aside they are truly here to support our veterans and make things right.”
