A coronial inquest has begun into the death of Peter Wayne Murphy, whose body was found buried in a shallow grave in the Central Australian outback.
Mr Murphy, 46, was last seen at an Alice Springs pub on August 17, 2008.
His disappearance was considered a cold case until police recommenced investigations in 2009.
Last year they received a tip-off about the location of his body.
His remains were found by police in a shallow grave marked by beer bottles, about 90 kilometres north-east of Alice Springs.
A coronial inquest has heard evidence that two bullets were found in Mr Murphy's skull.
Witnesses have given evidence that he had links to outlaw bikie gangs and owed about $100,000 in drug money.
The inquest continues.
