A state House bill introduced Wednesday would make Harley-Davidson the official motorcycle of Pennsylvania.
Rep. William Kortz, an Allegheny County Democrat, sponsored the legislation, which details the history of the company, from its beginnings in Milwaukee, Wis., to the founding of the Harley Owners Group in 1920.
The bill gives kudos to the company's operations in Springettsbury Township, touting York County as a mecca for biker enthusiasts.
"Thousands of Harley-Davidson enthusiasts have trekked to York to witness firsthand the living legacy of Harley-Davidson USA," the bill says. "The Harley-Davidson motorcycle is a true-blue American iron horse manufactured in Pennsylvania by American workers using American steel."
It's following a tradition started earlier this year in Wisconsin. In February, the state's voted Harley-Davidson the state's official motorcycle.
If approved, the designation would take effect within 60 days.
