OFF THE WIRE
BOLT of NC has been working to get H392 and/or it's companion bill, S480, to be heard in committee in time to beat the crossover deadlines. If we can get at least one of the bills to get a favorable report from committee, then pass one of the chambers and assigned to the other chamber prior to the deadline we've got a decent shot at it getting an 18 and over exception bill passed this year. The much more difficult obstacle then becomes getting Governor Beverly Perdue to sign it.
The primary sponsor of H392, Rep. Kelly Hastings, is a Marine. To me, that translates to a person who knows what honor is, and gets the job done. We just received word that he's engaged and driving House Bill 392, and has requested that it be heard in the House Transportation Committee.
