The Arlington Advocate
Arlington, Mass. —

The Town of Arlington has been selected to host “The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Moving Wall” otherwise known as “The Moving Wall” beginning on Thursday April 14 at 5 p.m., and will be available for viewing 24-hours a day through the morning of Monday, April 18, 2011 at the back of Arlington High School, 869 Massachusetts Ave. The Moving Wall is a half-size replica of the Washington D.C. Vietnam Veterans Memorial and has been touring the country for more than 20 years. The wall was dedicated in Washington D.C. in 1982.
By becoming a host for The Moving Wall, the town hopes to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, honor Vietnam Veterans who are here, and educate the public about the sacrifices that were made during the Vietnam War.
The costs associated with bringing the Moving Wall to Arlington need to be covered through donations. The town is asking for assistance from residents by making a contribution toward this effort. Make a tax-deductible contribution by visiting arlingtonma.gov/veterans or by sending a check made out to the Town of Arlington/Moving Wall, 730 Mass. Ave., Arlington, MA 02476.
