SF Police seek Hells Angels in beating of 2 men
Joe Garofoli, Chronicle Staff Writer
San Francisco Chronicle April 15, 2011(04-13) 19:31 PDT SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco police are searching for several men believed to be members of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang in connection with the beating of two men after they all had attended a Lauryn Hill concert at the Warfield Theatre.

The incident started inside the concert hall Tuesday night when the main suspect, a 30- to 35-year-old white man sporting insignia that would be worn by a full-fledged member of the Hells Angels, "stumbled into" one of the victims, said San Francisco Police Sgt. Michael Andraychuk.

The Hells Angels member was with several other men wearing insignia on their jackets designating that they were "prospects" - or less than full-fledged members, police said.

As they exited the concert by the former Fugees' singer, someone in the Angels group yelled to the victims, "Aren't you a Mongol?" referring to a rival motorcycle gang, police said.

When both groups exited the theater, the two victims tried to get away. But members of the Angels contingent blocked their path near the intersection of Market and Taylor Streets and began beating them. When police sirens were heard approaching sometime around 11:50 p.m., the attackers fled on their motorcycles, police said.

One victim, a 37-year-old San Jose resident, took multiple blows to the back of the head and neck, some of which could have been from a knife or some kind of jagged-edge weapon, police said. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, and his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening, police said.

The other victim, a 39-year-old San Leandro resident, declined to be transported to the hospital for treatment, police said.
