AVET Project Partners with ABATE to Support Our Troops and Increase Awareness About Motorcycle Safety

OFF THE WIRE
PATRICK, FL – (Motor Sports Newswire) – AVET Project is teaming up with the Brevard County Chapter of ABATE – Florida's premier motorcycle rights organization – to support AVET Project's "Project Recuperation & Reintegration" (PR&R) retreat program for returning combat veterans and Brevard County ABATE chapter's "Can U See Me Now" initiative to increase awareness about motorcycle safety.

PR&R is an AVET Project exclusive, total immersion program where returning combat veterans are selected for a 3 day/2 night retreat which provides an opportunity to decompress, relax, and learn valuable reintegration skills after returning from combat deployment. PR&R also instructs these brave warriors on potential VA and state veteran's benefits and employment counseling along with a combination of techniques and coping strategies to deal with the affects of combat, such as PTSD and TBI (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder/Traumatic Brain Injury). On site massage therapy, mental health awareness education & counseling, and recreational activities are offered along with accommodations, delicious home-cooked meals, travel allowance, and more... all at NO cost to the warrior participants.

The Brevard County Chapter of ABATE has established itself as a stand-out supporter of various causes which are important to its membership and citizens in general. Mike Pope, President of the Brevard County Chapter of ABATE, spearheaded this latest joint effort as a way to SUPPORT OUR TROOPS while at the same time focusing attention on motorcycle awareness among all motorists who share the roadways.

Mr. Pope said: "ABATE chapters across Florida will conduct a motorcycle ride we've termed "Can U See Me Now" on May 22, 2011 with starting points located statewide – originating at various American Legion Posts – and meeting in Ormond Beach, Florida at "Bruce Rossmeyer's Destination Daytona". Proceeds will go towards supporting ABATE outreach and AVET Project's PR&R program. Volunteer and vendor sales opportunities are available.
